Crunchy Mama’s Paleo Sesame Chicken (Paleo, Gluten Free, Dairy Free)

Crunchy Mama’s Paleo Sesame Chicken (Paleo, Gluten Free, Dairy Free)

Before we talk about my amazing paleo sesame chicken, here’s a little story.

“Your inner feminist is showing!” I joked with a friend when we were caught up in a charged (but civil) internet discussion around feminism, gender stereotypes, children’s media representation of men and women and what it all means for “crunchy” families like ours. It might come as a surprise to some but you don’t need to be a working-out-of-the-home woman, burn bras or hate men to call yourself a feminist. Here’s a great post that sums some of these misconceptions up.

Yes, we can vote. Yes, we can work. But there is still a long way to go.

Popular media is unable to fathom a strong female character without her being an ugly caricature. Even here in America, there are parts of this country where women do not feel safe walking alone because they may be targets of violent crimes. On average, women are still under-compensated for comparable jobs than their male counterparts.

When I rang the utility and cable companies to set up accounts for this place we moved into – I had started off giving them my name, social security number, etc. I also asked that my husband be ADDED TO THE ACCOUNT as an authorized account holder.

When the welcome letters and bills came, the only name on the account was his.

Until every day attitudes of every day people change, we need feminism.

Well, I am getting off my soap box now. But one more thing – did you know feminists could cook? 😉

How about that chicken for dinner while you ponder my rant?

  1. Thanks for this! Huge sesame chicken fan and the fact this is a paleo version makes me even more of fan!

    • You’re welcome Mark. I hope you enjoy it!

      • I sure did! I paired it with some fried “rice” and boom…got my Chinese food craving taken care of. Your site is becoming one of my go to blogs for ideas. Just made your French onion soup and got 5 servings waiting for me in the freezer.

  2. Seriously delicious! I had most of the ingredients too 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  3. This is pretty good! I added ground ginger, garlic powder, and onion powder to the sauce. I didn’t have sherry, but I don’t think I’d know the difference if I put it in there.

  4. Had dinner guests last night and braved it to try this as a new recipe, using them as guinea pigs. It was phenomenal! LOVED IT and so did they. Thanks so much!

  5. this looks delicious, yet simple! I can’t wait to try it! do you think I could use arrowroot or coconut flour in place of the tapioca?

  6. Amazing!! I used chicken breast instead of thigh and doubled the sauce and threw in a bunch of stir fry veggies and served it in a bed of butternut squash “chow mein noodles”. Hard to believe it was paleo!! 🙂

  7. Made this last night, minus the sherry because I didn’t have it…..delicious!!! Highly recommend, will definitely be making it again. Thanks for the great recipe!

  8. Stephanie says

Oh so so so yummy! Just made this for dinner and it was a hit! Opted to grill the chicken instead of frying, but it was still delicious and I can’t wait to make it again! Thanks for a great dish 🙂

  9. A good friend made this for dinner last night-it was so good. I messaged her to get the recipe and she did better then that, she sent me to your web page.

  10. This turned out great! I was out of balsamic vinegar (oops) so I replaced it with red wine vinegar and added in a bit more honey, which seemed to work just fine. The only big change I made was to pan fry the chicken pieces twice to make them extra crispy, since my fiance loves crispy sesame chicken. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

  11. Oh my gosh…this is terrific!! What a treat…I even fixed it for company and they loved it. Thanks so much.
